Eat Local April-November

Select from Spring, Summer or Fall CSA shares or all three for 29 weeks of local food.

We work hard to provide local food for our community for as much of the year as we can, so if you sign up for all three seasons you can eat local from late April through November. Each CSA season includes a distinct selection of vegetables that are available at that time of year, so participating in the CSA is a great way to learn how to eat seasonally. We send out a newsletter each week with information about all of the vegetables in that week’s share, tips on how to store and prepare them, and several tried and true recipes that utilize that week’s unique combination of vegetables. Throughout every season we do our best each week to provide mostly traditional, favorite vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, and lettuce as well as a couple harder to find vegetables like kohlrabi, fennel, or tomatillos. Part of the fun of a CSA is trying new things!

FALL

 Spring Greens Share

If you find yourself dreaming of freshly picked greens or deeply craving a crisp salad in early spring then this is the share for you! You can expect 4-6 different types of vegetables in each share, most of them sweet and crisp greens picked from our unheated hoop houses the day of the delivery. Each share is a good mix of old favorites like a big bag of leaf lettuce as well as harder to find greens like bok choy or Mizunas (a type of mustard greens popular in east Asia).

Summer Share

The 16-week summer share offers the classic CSA experience, and would be a great place to start if you haven’t been part of a CSA before. You can expect 10-15 different types of vegetables each week, and we work hard to provide an amount appropriate for a recipe (so we won’t give you 15 kohlrabies in one week or only 1 tiny piece of broccoli).

Fall Share

The fall share is made up of 4 deliveries over an 8 week period from the end of September until nearly Thanksgiving. Each share is large, and intended to last two weeks until the next delivery. In the beginning the fall share includes the end of the late summer crops like tomatoes and peppers, and then transitions into more traditional fall crops like frost-sweetened carrots, greens, broccoli, and brussels sprouts. You can expect a variety of storage crops like onions, potatoes, and winter squash.
