Carlena Minor has been the egg producer for Local Harvest CSA for many years, and will continue to provide a fresh local egg share. She raises free-range chickens with non-GMO feed. The eggs will always be very fresh, so they will last for quite a while in your refrigerator.
The coffee share is provided by Wake Up Iowa. Wake Up Iowa coffee beans are thoughtfully selected, roasted in small batches and packaged with love in Iowa City. We work with farmers across the world, many of whom are certified organic, fair trade and even biodynamic. They work everyday to bring the best coffee to the hardworking people in the state of Iowa.
In 2018 all bread shares will come from the Local Crumb, a small bakery located in Mount Vernon run by head baker Aaron Hall. In 2017 the bakery moved to its new home in the 1st Street Community building. The Local Crumb focuses on naturally leavened breads, spotlighting organic Iowa milled flours creating crusty breads with an airy crumb. You can also find Aaron’s bread at the Winter Saturday Mt Vernon Farmer’s Market or the summer Iowa City Farmer’s Market.
Turkey Creek Orchard will hopefully be once again offering a 10 week fruit share, signup for which will be later in the spring. They will also be offering locally grown fruit and jam for order by members throughout the season.
Crow’s Creek Farm, a small diversified farm near Anamosa, will once again be offering local pastured pork and beef for order by members in season.
Henry and Ila Miller from Kalona offer fresh organic turkeys for members to Local Harvest CSA members to order for Thanksgiving.
